The problem

The answer exists. Finding it is the job.

A single vehicle authorisation or safety-case question can touch a TSI, two or three EN 5012x parts, a UIC leaflet and a national rule — each a few hundred pages, each with its own numbering, each cross-referencing the others. So the work isn't understanding the requirement. It's locating it: the right clause, in the right revision, and every place it's mentioned again downstream.

Today that means keyword-searching PDFs, chasing "see clause 6.2.3", and rebuilding the same cross-reference map you built last month. It's slow, it's easy to miss a reference, and it's the least valuable part of an expert's day.

  • Hours per week lost to searching, not assessing.
  • Miss one cross-reference and it surfaces in review — or later.
  • The knowledge lives in a handful of people's heads and a folder of PDFs.

How it works

Three steps from a question in your own language to a clause you can cite.

Pick your jurisdiction and start asking

The public corpus is already built in and indexed: TSIs, ERA/ERTMS subset documents, EU directives and national rules. On Pro, add your own licensed copies of copyrighted standards (EN 5012x, UIC leaflets) to your private, EU-hosted workspace. We don't redistribute standards — copyrighted texts are searchable only from copies you already hold a licence for.

Ask in your own language

"What are the SIL apportionment requirements for a trackside interlocking function?" "Vilka krav ställs på dörrkontroll i förarhytten?" Ask the way you'd ask a colleague, in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish. Answers cite the clause in the official language version of the standard, so a Swedish question returns the Swedish text of the TSI, not a translation. No Boolean syntax, no guessing the exact wording the standard used.

Get the answer, with the citation

Every answer points to the exact section, table or figure number in your source document, so you can verify it and cite it. Open the passage in one click. And if a question needs a standard you haven't ingested, the free plan tells you exactly which standard is required and points you to the upload or upgrade path — rather than guessing. Trust, then verify — never the other way round.

Frequently asked questions

How do you handle copyright on the standards?
You upload your own licensed copies of the standards you're entitled to use. ERA Standards does not host, sell or redistribute copyrighted CENELEC or UIC texts. The tool works against the documents in your private workspace — it's a way to search and cross-reference material you already licensed, not a way to obtain it.
Where is my data hosted?
Your uploads and queries are hosted in the EU. Your documents stay in your private workspace.
Are you affiliated with the EU Agency for Railways (ERA)?
No. ERA Standards is an independent product and has no affiliation with, or endorsement by, the EU Agency for Railways (era.europa.eu). "ERA" here refers to European railway standards as a subject area.
How accurate are the answers, and can I trust the citations?
Every answer points to the exact section, table or figure in your source document so you can verify it yourself. Treat it as a fast, well-referenced first draft from a very well-read colleague — not as a substitute for your professional judgement or for reading the clause. The citation is there precisely so you can check it in one click.
Which standards does it cover?
The publicly available corpus is built in: the TSIs, ERA/ERTMS subset documents, EU directives, and national rules such as DIN, NF F, RFI, RATO, BOStrab, RIS and NSAI. Copyrighted standards — EN 5012x (EN 50126 / 50128 / 50129 and related CENELEC) and UIC leaflets — become searchable when you upload your own licensed copies on Pro or Enterprise.
Will my uploaded documents be used to train the model or shared with other users?
No — your uploads stay in your workspace and are not shared with other customers.
What does it cost?
Free tier: 20 queries a month. Pro: ~€99/month billed annually (~€136 month-to-month), 100 queries a day, private uploads, with a 7-day free trial. Enterprise: custom, for compliance checking, requirements extraction, impact analysis and ReqIF export.
Can it export to our requirements tools?
On Enterprise, yes — ReqIF export to DOORS, Polarion and Jama, plus requirements extraction and impact analysis.
